After running the NYC marathon, I decided to further my efforts as a charity athlete so i signed up to run the Chicago marathon on behalf of Chicago Commons. There are 3 things that drew me to Chicago Commons. The first is that the organization is centered in underserved communities like the one I grew up in. The second is that their mission has an educational component for youth which as you can tell from my NYC marathon experience, is important to me. And lastly, the Senior Services program that helps seniors and disabled adults stay in their homes, preventing or delaying the need for institutional care. As a financial services professional specializing in Life Insurance, I know all too well how expensive Adult Care services can be and the impact that it has on families. Since the adult care is so costly, often times the kids end up having to take care of their parent and that can lead to loss of employment. This can have catastrophic effects on families so the fact that Chicago Commons has recognized this and has made it a point to address this, really drew me to the organization. I hope you can help support this cause like you supported me in NYC. Together we can make a difference.
