The students at Chavez Elementary have spent the last few months learning about activists and activism of the past and the present. After focusing on some major problems in our world today, the 3rd graders decided to focus on the issue of access to education. They were shocked to hear that more than 78 million children around the world do not get to attend school. To help, our students are planning a rally for "Education for All" at our school on June 14th where they will teach others about this issue, give persuasive speeches and write letters to congress urging them to give more money to fund education around the world. Along with the rally, they are working to raise money for UNICEF to send schooling materials to children in need.
