Every year over Memorial Day Weekend the Chatham VFW has its members out in force in front of grocery stores waving flags and holding poppies. This fundraiser has been apart of the VFW tradition for near 100 years, and with the ongoing pandemic, we are currently not able to perform our biggest fundraising effort. The Covid-19 'Stay Home Orders' we find ourselves under has led us to cancel multiple events and shutdown our canteen. We rely on these events in order to help Veterans pay bills, to support our monthly homeless feeds, to help us offer support to groups in Chatham, and to help with our scholarship opportunities among other things. Since we are not able to complete our fundraisers in person, we wanted to reach out to the community to see if the community would help support us digitally. We are hoping to recoup the lost revenue we would have made through this online Poppy Drive. We would like to attain our goal of $7000 in the month of May, and have the fundraiser culminate in a community Poppy-themed art show on Memorial Day. We look forward to everyone's generous support, and would like to thank everyone for the help and kindness they have already showed their local VFW.
