My daughter, Angela, and I are running the Pittsburgh Half-Marathon this year as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society because I am one of the lucky ones. I am a cancer survivor that is blessed to be in remission, but we are keenly aware that there are many others who are not so fortunate. Far too many friends and family members have been lost to cancer. Research has made many miraculous advances in treatments, but there‘s still much to be done. So, let’s run this race together for everyone that is fighting their way into remission; for all those that are celebrating their recovery; and for our loved ones that have lost the battle. Even though I am not an experienced runner, I WILL cross that finish line, because quitting is not an option in the fight against cancer!
