Thank you for all of your support! Since our campaign started, we have worked hard to pivot and do what we can for those we serve: to meet each individual with autism where they are at. In just two week’s time, we have taken our central purpose and most critical programming and created a virtual space for not only our participants and their families to continue receiving our support, but also our donors and supporters to still enjoy our Night of Dreams Gala. We are thrilled to bring you the new virtual home for Have Dreams: www.wearehavedreams.org. Please take a look and share with your friends!
Most of our staff is still furloughed and we are working hard with limited staff to bring high quality programs to our participants. YOUR SUPPORT IS APPRECIATED! We want nothing more than to return to our offices with our dedicated staff and see the smiling faces of our participants. Thank you again for contributing and sharing!
About Have Dreams and Current Situation
Have Dreams is a nonprofit autism resource organization providing critical services for thousands of individuals for almost 25 years. With centers in Evanston and Park Ridge, Illinois we serve 82 school districts, 12 therapeutic day schools, and 26 communities. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a socially isolating disability, affecting communication, social skills and behavior. As of March 2020, the the CDC estimates the prevalence of autism has increased to1 in 54 children in the U.S.
Have Dreams has had to suspend programs and services for our children, teens and adults with autism and layoff our dedicated program staff members due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We work hard to reduce the social isolation inherent in autism, and now must take drastic measures to "distance" these vulnerable individuals. Our hearts are broken for them and their families.
We all face uncharted territory with the spread of COVID-19, which necessitated cancellation of our Night of Dreams Gala scheduled for April 25th, the main source of our program and scholarship revenue. Without our largest fundraiser of the year, we need your help even more to continue our programs and keep our staff on board.
As we are all now experiencing social distancing and social isolation in some way due to COVID-19, please consider giving a gift to Have Dreams so we can continue services after the pandemic and open our doors when it is safe to do so.
Thanks to all of our amazing friends and supporters for almost 25 years of Helping Autistic Voices Emerge!
