We were both premie babies. Born at 30 weeks and 6 days, we were early, and small. Being that small is scary, and not normal. Our lungs were under developed, and before we were born, my mom was given steroids to speed up our lung development. Our parents knew we were going to be early and our lungs being developed was extremely important. When we were born, we were sent to the NICU. We were given oxygen, and cared for so we could be able to develop outside of the womb. In all, Ava was in the NICU for five weeks and Sophia was in the NICU for six weeks. So, when we were thinking of what to do for our mitzvah project, it was a no-brainer that we should choose an organization that supports premie moms and babies, which is why we chose March of dimes.
