Many children around the world DO NOT have access to youth sports leagues and decent playing surfaces, thus organized youth sports are critically being underutilized as a youth empowerment and development tool.
Sejona Sports Foundation is a 501c3 tax exempt nonprofit in New Jersey,USA.
Help us make a difference by raising money to fund youth sports programs and the development of basic youth sports facilities, such as turf soccer fields, basketball courts, swimming pools, etc., for schools, orphanages and communities in need, primarily in developing nations. Ghana is our initial country of focus.
Why are organized youth sports programs important?
Research indicates organized youth sports are the most powerful extracurricular activities we can give children access to because they:
-Foster physical, mental, character and social development.
-Help in the battle to overcome gender, racial and ethnic/tribal barriers.
-Entertain and unite communities.
-Are a fun and effective way to teach youth about teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline.
-Foster the values of adherence to rules, overcoming adversity, honor, integrity, setting goals, and working to achieve those goals.
-Build character and life skills hinged on determination, perseverance, as well as being graceful in victory and defeat.
-Are beneficial in terms of their impact on muscle, heart, and overall health, thus aiding in the fight against childhood obesity and diabetes.
-Provide a platform for talented youth to showcase their abilities which might lead to scholarships to further their education.
