We hope this finds you all well during this challenging time. Maine Environmental Changemakers exists to connect young Mainers passionate about the environment and social justice with each other, with mentors, and with the resources and training they need to actualize their ideas in their home communities.
Last week we launched an aid fund to help support our youth leaders in our Environmental Changemakers Network to weather this difficult crisis... so many of these AMAZING young people are now left without jobs and are struggling to pay for rent, groceries, and meet daily needs for themselves and their families. In our work at Changemakers we believe in building each individual's power and ability to make change in their school and community... we feel our best support right now for our youth is in meeting their essential needs so they can continue to contribute to their communities. If you are able to donate, we are turning every single penny of your donation directly back to our youth in the next weeks.
Since launching this fund last week, we have already heard how important it has been to the young people receiving this support. One recipient said, "I am so thankful to be part of the Maine Environmental Changemakers Network! MEEA is not only about empowering young people but it's a community that problem solves and provides direct change! Thank you for continuing to uplift the community during uncertain times and supporting my essential needs during the Covid 19!"
We have raised $3,500 from our own funds. But we know that is not enough money to meet the need of youth in our network. We need your help to provide direct aid to these incredible young people. Please help us reach our goal of matching our funds of $3,500.
Thank you so much! We hope you are safe in this challenging time.
