Race. Rise. Rebuild.

Champions in Action is hosting a virtual 10k run/walk in support of its relief and mentorship programs. Each kilometer corresponds to one of the communities being supported by Champions in Action.

Funds raised through this run/walk will go towards continuing to fund COVID-19 relief programs, support year-long mentorship programs and help the organization navigate this time of transition between the pandemic and the "new normal," with a vision for expanding the impact to more families than ever before.

Participants are able to log their run anytime during the race week: November 15th-22nd. Detailed instructions will come in your welcome packet once registered.

Our Cause

Champions in Action is a 501(c)3 working with at-risk youth in Guatemala's red zones. Our vision is to empower a generation of youth - through soccer, mentorship and the Gospel - to transform themselves, their families, their communities and their nation. We do this through intensive year-long mentorshup programs, using soccer as a tool to connect youth to mentors and teach life lessons.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, our in-person programs came to a halt. We quickly pivoted to meet the immediate needs of the kids and families in their programs. In Guatemala, the economy and health systems collapsed soon after the first cases. Conservative estimates predict 1.5 million lost jobs. With 70% of the country's economy made up by 'informal' workers, the true extent of job loss may never be known. Since the start of the pandemic, Champions Guatemala has been providing monthly food bags to 205 families. 80% of the families in the program have experienced job loss or salary reduction and 92% rely on the Champions food bags as their main food source.

As we look towards the end of the year and 2021, Champions in Action continues to be dedicated to our families. Our food bag program will continue, at least, until the close of 2020. We will continue to empower our mentors to be agents of change and hope within their communities and come alongside them to support our families as the world continues to navigate how to recover.
