Starting in July we want to organize Community Days at Common Grounds. To accomplish this we need financial help and volunteers. Churches are wonderful places to learn and grow in a particular faith tradition, but what about those who want to explore faith or remain spirtually open? Perhaps theres a way Common Grounds can facilitate learning, encouragement and inpiration after hours. Artists, musicians, writers and other creative thinkers will benefit greatly from your support of us. Will you help us with this next phase of our work in DeKalb?
Common Grounds Books and Beans is a coffee shop and much more. Our goal was to create a place where anyone can get inspired and brew using fair trade products for the cause of freedom. Coffee, tea and chocolate producing countries are the most vulnerable to modern day slavery and human trafficking. Please support us in our partnership with Set Free Movement, Polaris Project and DeKalb's Safe Passage. We want to create a community of concern by not only raising the standard of coffee consumption but creating hope for victims of human trafficking around us. This campaign is needed to get our cafe reopened. In April the building we occupied was condemn for structural concerns. Immediately we began working on a relocation to an available rental property coded for restaurant use. Unfortunately the property needed significant remodeling, plumbing upgrades and electrical repair to pass city and health inspection. Your donation will get us open and any additional funds will go toward rent, inventory and restaffing. Please help us in our mission of brewing in the direction of freedom and bringing hope to DeKalb one cup at a time.
