The NYC Marathon -
A race we all hear about
A race many dream of, no doubt!
While some sit on the side and have a stout
I'll be running 26.2 miles on my route!
Hear me as I shout:
Team GLUTEN-FREE! :)
On November 3rd, I'll be running the streets of NYC with Team Gluten-Free. This foundation provides support, hope and answers to those living with Celiac Disease. Since being diagnosed in 2017 The Celiac Disease Foundation has been a vital part of my journey.
Q: What's it like having Celiac Disease?
A: It's not that bad, avoid GLUTEN and you'll be ok.
Q: What's it REALLY like having Celiac Disease?
A. Having Celiac Disease isn't just about being gluten free.
It affects every part of you!
Mentally, it's stressful.
Physically, it's exhausting.
Financially, it's expensive.
Emotionally, it's challenging.
To fully understand what it's like to have Celiac, picture this:
You're in a boxing ring.
It's you vs. your intestines and here is how it can go...
1.SAVED BY THE BELL: You pick up a piece of bread that's marked GF. Just as you're about to put it in your mouth the chef runs out of the kitchen grabs it from your hand and explains that it was mismarked.
2. THROW IN THE TOWEL: You sit down to have dinner, ribs to be exact. When the waiter comes out to ask how everything is, you ask, "What makes them to tender, they are delicious?."
"It must be the beer......." Suddenly you realize you've been "poisoned" and you surrender.
3. THROW ONE'S HAT IN THE RING: Scenario #2, signifies giving up. Scenario #3 shows I'm ready for a fight. I'm not going to spend my life being beat up by my swollen intestines, I'm here to win!
Thank you in advance for supporting my mission. It means the world to me. Your support to this cause means a cure is possible. For that, I thank you.
Team Gluten-Free runners from across the country will unite in New York to run the 26.2 miles with one common goal: to accelerate diagnosis, treatments, and find a cure for the three million Americans affected by celiac disease.
Thank you,
Marisa
