We're at it again! In 2016, Carl, Rich, & Lauren ran the Celebrate Life Half Marathon in memory of Janet Marquez Flaum, a beautiful, smart, and insanely funny woman who would have told us back in 2016 (and every year since then!) that we are certifiably insane for signing-up to run 13.1 miles.....outside.....in March.....in Rock Hill. The full half-marathon kicked Lauren's butt in 2016, so she's done the two-person relay each year since then, 7.6 miles for Lauren and 5.5 miles for her partner.
This event is the #CelebrateJanet team's little way of honoring and celebrating an incredible woman we lost too soon while raising money for a totally worthy cause. Always on my mind and forever in my heart, Dit.
Celebrate Life Half Marathon honors, remembers, and celebrates those who have fought against cancer. It is a “Feel Good Race” in beautifully scenic (and hilly!) Sullivan County. What money is raised by the race is donated; there are no overhead or admin expenses; 100% of the proceeds go to assisting cancer patients in treatment and their families in Orange and Sullivan Counties. The Celebrate Life Patient Fund provides grants for meals, transportation, co-pays, and other every day expenses. These people- our friends, neighbors, colleagues- are fighting for their lives. These grants help alleviate some of the financial stress so they can focus on kicking cancer's ass! Please consider giving what you can. Every single dollar helps someone fighting the fight!
