As we all know, this year has presented unparalleled challenges nationwide. Amid this coronavirus pandemic, people from coast to coast are facing endless and intense disasters.
Through it all, the American Red Cross has been there, providing sorely needed relief – with adaptations that keep our workers and those we serve safe from COVID-19.
In Oklahoma, our volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure survivors of home fires, ice storms, floods and tornadoes have lodging, meals and reassurance that things will get better.
Since July in Oklahoma alone, the Red Cross responded to more than 750 disaster events, supporting more than 2,000 Oklahomans in their time of need, providing nearly $360,000 in financial assistance and emergency lodging.
In the fight against this coronavirus, the Red Cross is leaning into new roles, such as testing all blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies and collecting and distributing plasma from people who’ve fully recovered from the virus, offering potentially lifesaving treatment for people fighting the disease. Since July, Oklahoma has collected 46,000 units of lifesaving blood, platelets and plasma donations.
We’ve made an incredible impact this year, but the challenges we’re facing are far from over. More than ever, we need your support to bring help and hope to people facing their darkest hours.
Our mission — alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies — is vast and impactful. Fulfilling this mission is only possible with generous support from donors and community partners like you.
With a charitable contribution, you can make a life-changing — and even lifesaving — gift of help and hope to people in their darkest hours.
