As NJ continues to reopen businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond, individuals with disabilities participating in CEA’s Community Employment programs have faced major challenges with approximately 50% losing their jobs. This includes individuals previously participating in CEA’s Extended Employment program who had greater barriers to community employment and were successfully employed through our Career Pathways Project.
The Career Reintegration Project is designed to offer individuals with disabilities who had worked in a pre-covid environment a path towards employment, eliminating periods of social isolation and provide a structured, systematic approach to reentering the workforce during the Covid-19 pandemic and in the years to follow. Program participants will strengthen their current work skills and rebuild proficiencies that were lost during the quarantine period, in addition to learning new skills and adapting to changing work environments. Help us get the Career Reintegration Project up and running!
CEA has already raised $42,000 in support of this project, we still have $69,000 to go!
Here's why YOUR support is so important:
*Individuals with disabilities participating in CEA’s community employment programs have faced major challenges with approximately 50% losing their jobs.
*Prior to the COVID 19 pandemic, with a strong economy and low unemployment, individuals with disabilities already had an unemployment rate more than twice that of people without disabilities.
*With the disruption in the job market caused by the COVID 19 pandemic, it is likely that the discrepancy in employment rates will be magnified.
*Some of the hardest hit industries are those in which people with disabilities have historically had success, such as food service and hospitality, the lack of jobs in these areas for people with disabilities will be long term.
*Career Reintegration participants will earn a paycheck in our packaging business while preparing to return to Supported Employment and a community based job.
