I have been dancing at CCD since I was 3 years old. I have taken ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, and tap classes. I love dance because I love to learn, perform, and spend time with my friends. This is the 4th year that I have danced in the Nutcracker. It is a great show to go see with your family because the dancing, sets and costumes are amazing and it is a very festive production to see at Christmas time. This year, I am dancing the roles of Soldier, Lead Angel, Chinese Corps and Dragonfly. My favorite role is a Lead Angel because the routine, music and costumes are beautiful. I also love this role because I get to dance with the Little Angels. I hope you can come see the Nutcracker this year!
For more information and to purchase tickets to the Nutcracker please go to https://ccdance.org/performances/
This year, in addition to my regular classes and the Nutcracker, I am also participating in a group called Studio Company. We get to learn and perform an anti-bullying ballet at schools around the community, as well as participate in volunteer activities through CCD. Next spring, we are also performing a newly choreographed version of Cinderella.
CCD is a non-profit organization that not only gives great training to students like me, it also does a lot of great work for the community, including:
· Working with four area at-risk elementary schools to bring arts-integrated learning into the classroom
· Teaching dance to students with adaptive learning needs, both here at CCD and in two public elementary schools
· Performing anti-bullying ballets for at least 4,000 elementary students each year
· And…performing a version of The Nutcracker that is specifically adapted for people with sensory needs, so families with special needs can make happy holiday memories together! I am helping raise money for CCD because I love dancing here, and I am proud of being a part of a non-profit arts organization that gives so much back to the community.
