Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Haiti H2O and the leaders in our partner communities stand on the words of Nelson Mandela—lasting impact will come through the children.
In 2016, hurricane Matthew devastated the school building in the community of Meloniere. The teachers and children have not given up—they persevere, often sitting in classrooms with crumbling walls and tattered tarps as roofs for their lessons.
The community of Meloniere has started phase 2 of construction on a new school building. Phase 1 included laying the foundation for the school, which will include six classrooms. Now members of Meloniere are working on building the walls. When not in classes, the students often help with carrying materials to aid in the building project.
The funds raised through this bike ride will provide a roof and floor for the school, bringing it to completion. In a country where over 200,000 children are not enrolled in school and the literacy rate stands at 60%, you can provide a school building for the students of Meloniere.
