Help Catty Shack Ranch care for our big cats during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary is a forever home to 40 animals, mostly tigers and lions, that needed to be rescued or rehomed. We also house smaller cats such as pumas, bobcats, and servals; and other species to include foxes, coatimundis, and horses. We are in the early stages of a renovation and expansion that will give our current residents more room and allow us to rescue additional animals. That plan to renovate and expand has been put on hold by COVID-19.
Catty Shack Ranch is a 501c(3) not-for-profit organization. We rely heavily on the revenue we receive from visitors that come to see our animals. We would normally be open every afternoon and also host evening events three nights each week. The evening events were most popular because visitors would be able to come for a tour and then watch the big cats eat their dinner. The visitors all vanished as a result of COVID-19 and the need for social distancing. When the visitors vanished, so did our largest source of income.
The pandemic has made it more difficult for us to care for our animals as well. We have a handful of paid employees, but we are a volunteer-driven organization. A number of our volunteers are older or have an underlying health issue, and are therefore avoiding groups out of concern for their personal wellbeing. The sudden and drastic loss of income has curtailed our plans to hire additional people. We have also not been able to hold an orientation class for new volunteers, which means no additional help until COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Personnel issues and our loss of income have all had an effect on the sanctuary that could take quite some time to overcome.
This is why we need your help. Please join us and help Catty Shack Ranch survive the pandemic. Your gift will help us provide food, medical care, and housing to these beautiful creatures. We need your help to get us through this tough time to the day that volunteers and visitors can return. Our mission is to rescue big cats (and other species), but we cannot do it alone. Donate if you can and please, please share this campaign with your friends so they know about us too. Thank you from all the animals, big and small, that call Catty Shack Ranch their home.
