As many of you know, I have battled with chronic migraine for the last number of years and it has changed my life in ways I could never have imagined.
Due, in part, to migraine disease I have lost my health, my career, more friends than I care to remember, my financial security, and so much more. I have become intimate friends with my bed, my couch, and my blackout curtains. I have my freezer, my purse, and every other bag I own constantly stocked with ice packs, and I have tried, and failed more medications than many people will take in a lifetime.
Despite all that, I have gained a great deal too. I have connected with amazing people, some of whom I consider dear friends. I have learnt who my true friends are. I have better learnt to research, and to advocate for myself when dealing with medical professionals, many of whom know less about migraine disease than I do at this point in my journey. I have learnt to speak up about migraine disease and to do what I can to smash the stigma that those of us living with migraine disease, and other invisible illnesses often face. And most importantly, I have learnt a great deal about myself, and how strong I can be, even when I don't feel strong at all.
This year I have the exciting opportunity to attend RetreatMigraine, and I need your support!
RetreatMigraine is a conference led by and focused on people living with migraine disease. The retreat provides support, community, disease and treatment education, advocacy training, and complementary therapy experiences. This event is for people with migraine from all across America (and a few of us from Canada too).
Organizing a national conference for 300+ people is expensive. Conference registration costs are low and highly subsidized to offer the opportunity to as many people as possible. CHAMP (Coalition for Headache and Migraine Patients) is also providing scholarships to help subsidize the travel expenses of many of the attendees, myself included. As my way of thanking them, I am asking for your help raising funds to support myself and others attending this event!
Your donation will allow CHAMP to offer more scholarships to those living with migraine so they can learn, connect, and become advocates for this community.
Please donate to help support this important event to our community.
Together we can improve the lives of those living with migraine.
