As some of you know, and some don't, Happy Tailz is a cat rescue dedicated to helping the sick, injured, and special needs cats and kittens. We've been blessed to help many sick and injured cats and find them all deserving forever homes in just under 2 years of being active in the Pinellas County, Hillsburough County, Pasco County, and Hernando County areas of FL. As our rescue grows, we find the need to have more space to help more cats and kittens in need. Many rescues go the route of renting out a building, but that comes with landlords, electric bills, water bills, contracts, and neighbors. It also comes in at, typically, upwards of $1,500 a month not including your initial construction to make the building work for the resuce, water, or electric bills... That is $1,500 a month we would like to spend on helping more needy cats. Our solution is to build a "Cat Shack" for lack of a better term. For the cost of 5 months rent at a building we will have a fully functioning mother-in-law suite for cats! This "Cat Shack" will be a 10x24 shed made into a safe place for cats to stay and a small meet and greet area in the front for potential adopters to meet their new family member(s)! It will have electricity of course. Fosters will be able to do meet and greets in a safe place without the need to give out their address or meet at a pet store (only one address will be given out which is a LOT safer for not only our fosters, but cats as well. Foster homes are notorious for becoming dumping grounds so address MUST be kept private) which will really help with increasing adoptions. The shed will have quite a few windows, a wall inside to make a small meet and greet area, and a window AC unit with dehumidifier inside the building. The Goal amount is more than the cost of the shed because we must also insulate, drywall, paint, and put floors in which means we need to purchase those supplies. Unfortunately, the cost of having the company do all that is exorbitant. The additional cost is for the insulation, drywall, mudding, paint, and flooring needed before it can be used as a haven for kitties. There is no extra cost for labor because it will be all volunteer based. In the end our goal is to help as many cats as we can doresponsibly and this "Cat Shack" will help us do just that and with a fraction of the cost renting a building would incur! This "Shack" is basically a mother-in-law suite for kitties, how cool is that!? Will you help us help more cats? There is never a shortage of sick and injured cats in need. There is, however, a shortage of space to help them. If you find moved to do so, please help us by donating, sharing, and just spreading the word.
