Hi everyone! Instead of getting gifts for my 11th birthday I am choosing to create a fundraiser for senior dogs. I am doing this because I love animals and dogs are a very important part of my life. I have had three dogs in my life: Pierre, Franny, and Otis and each one has been special to me. Otis lived until he was 25, and both Pierre and Franny are now seniors--I can't imagine them being alone, confused, and abandoned in a shelter.
I would like to donate to Old Dog Haven because I don't think any dog should be ignored because they are frail, sick, or old. Old Dog Haven is a small non-profit in Washington that provides loving homes for abandoned senior dogs that are usually ignored or passed by at the shelter. Old Dog Haven takes in dogs that are 8-years and older from shelters and rehomes them. They also provide Final Refuge for dogs that need hospice care (too frail, old, sick for adoption) giving these pups a loving family and good quality of life in their final years, months, or weeks of their life. Old Dog Haven is currently in the process of rehoming 300 dogs!
It costs a lot of money to take care of these dogs. Old Dog Haven spends about $90,000 in vet bills per month (1 million per year!) and $15,000 in dog Supplies (food, bedding, medication, flea treatment). Out of every dollar Old Dog Haven receives 87 cents goes directly to the care of senior dogs.
My goal is to donate $500 because I would like to sponsor five Final Refuge Dogs, which costs $100 per dog. Thank you for visiting my fundraiser and please donate whatever you can to these senior companions!
