I was a Freshman in College when 9/11 happened and with a family full of firemen and cops it was a scary time. As a Long Islander I am so proud of how New York came together and started helping each other through that tough time. To remind all of the "damn yankees" down here in SC that we are all a true New Yorker, I run to honor 9/11 and the memory of how we all got each other through a tough time.
The Siller Family started the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to honor the memory of their brother, Stephen, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001. The Foundation was built upon the mantra, “while we have time, LET US DO GOOD,” and continues Stephen’s legacy by supporting our nation’s first responders and military heroes.
