The Portland Gay Men's Chorus was founded in 1980 and is the fourth oldest gay men's chorus in the country. Throughout its 39 years as one of Portland's preeminent community choral arts groups PGMC has provided opportunities for many of our talented performers to step in front of the chorus as a member of a smaller performance group. One such group is Cascade. This talented group of 12 performs an ecclectic a cappella repetoire and has traveled across the country and most recently internationally when they performed with PGMC in China during its history making tour of the People's Republic of China.
Cascade is a group driven towards perfection and as such they have been invited and accepted an invitation to participate in GALA's Leadership Conference Ensemble Boot Camp. This weekend intensive boot camp is open to just four groups from across the country and includes private coaching sessions as well as public masterclasses with world renowned Deke Sharon, heralded as the father of contemporary A Cappella. Deke produces "The Sing-Off" worldwide (USA, Netherlands, China, South Africa), and served as arranger, on-site music director and vocal producer for Universal’s "Pitch Perfect" & "Pitch Perfect 2" & "Pitch Perfect 3" starring Anna Kendrick & Rebel Wilson.
This is an expensive endeavor for many of Cascade's participants since it requires that they cover airfare, hotel accomodations as well as food during the 3 day weekend Boot Camp. Can you help? Your contribution, however large or small, will go a long way in helping ensure that every member of Cascade can participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity. Your support is greatly appreciated!
