In October, we wear PINK!
3 years ago, on October 11th, 2017, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. 16 rounds of IV chemo, 2 surgeries, 30 radiation treatments, followed by another 8 rounds of oral chemotherapy, and 3 surgeries later , I completed my entire course of treatment & reconstruction in November of 2019. I'm so grateful to be considered "cancer free" since my mastectomy in April 2018. All of this was possible because years ago a researcher had an idea, and that idea became a hypothesis, and that hypothesis was tested, and tested and tested some more, which lead to developments of treatments like Tamoxifen, Herceptin and Aromatase Inhibitors, and countless other options to allow cancer patients like me to Carry On Bravely.
Carrying on Bravely is what you do whether you're a survivor, thriver, care-giver or have lost a loved one to cancer. We go on, because others can't. We give back because we don't want others to share in this experience. Once again this year, I am so excited to participate in the upcoming Bee Brave 5K Run/Walk, and partner with the VanAndel Institute to provide funds that go directly to breast cancer research. You have all been a part of my team for the last 3 years; please join me in Carrying on Bravely by helping to fund life changing research at the VAI. There are 3 ways to do this:
1. REGISTER to join me on race day as we walk/run for a GREAT cause. You will receive a great t-shirt!
2. Register as a VIRTUAL WALKER! Maybe you can’t be there on race day, but still want a t-shirt (I will pick it up for you).
3. DONATE! Any of these choices help me with my personal goal to raise $1000.
Bee Brave is very unique in that EVERY registration and donation dollar goes directly to Van Andel Institute where 100% of the money we send them goes to breast cancer research right here in West Michigan! Just click on the appropriate link to join or donate! THANK YOU for your consideration and support!!!!
