A few years ago, I joined the board of the Philadelphia Film Society because I LOVE movies. I believe in the unique power of film to inspire, educate, challenge and entertain. And I have long been an ardent fan of the Philadelphia Film Festival, the Society’s signature event, now in its 29th year.
Today the mission of PFS to use film to build bridges of common understanding among diverse communities throughout Philadelphia needs your help. COVID-19 forced us to close our two main sources of revenue, The Roxy and The Film Center. Without your support, we cannot continue to pay our fixed expenses and continue to pay our greatly reduced staff who are working with a cut in pay.
To manage the crisis, our Board of Directors has launched a “Save our Screens” campaign.
We have raised among ourselves $150,000 and are asking film lovers to contribute an additional $150,000 toward our goal of $300,000 -- - the amount necessary to sustain operations through the end of the year.
I have pledged to raise $3,000 by asking everyone I know to contribute just $25 to keep the Film Society afloat. Would you please, please help me fulfill my promise by sending your $25 right now.
