This is a disease that could effect anyone when you least expect it. It’s a devastating disease that takes people’s quality of life away from them very quickly. It effects their family and their friends. Something has to be done to give these patients a better quality of life for now until we find a cure. My mom’s dear friend lost her battle with ALS at 42 and left behind her two small children. No parent should have to live on a ventilator not being able to move and in fear that they will not be able to raise their children.
I am doing this pie-in-the-face challenge where people can go on their social media and take a video of someone putting a pie in their face. They can challenge friends and family to do the same. It is a way we can raise money virtually while practicing social distancing during COVID-19.
All donations go towards funding care and support for families, and research through The ALS Association NC Chapter.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, though increased financial support is bringing researchers closer to an answer.
