In 2019 I volunteered for my first summer at Expeirnce Camp which is a nationally recognized summer camp for grieving children, ages 9-17, who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or caregiver. Expeience Camps are free for all Children and camp is run exclusively by funds raised by volunteers like me.
While COVID 19 cancceled our in-person camp this summer, the support and love of camp lived on in true 2020 fasion via zoom. Through my computer, I got to see the faces of the children I have grown to love and admire so much. Seeing thier sweet giggles and support for eachother after such a tough year really helped bring home for me that this camp is more important now than ever.
2020 has brought a year of hardship for all and grief for many. 1 in 5 children are grieving the loss of a parent, sibling or caregiver. And over 1 million children have been directly impacted by a COVID-related death.* With grief support needed more than ever, we must come back bigger and better in 2021 and meet the anticipated increase in demand due to COVID-19. To make that happen, I need your help!
It cost $2500 to send one child to camp and my goal is to ensure that through my efforts one child will be at camp in 2021. These kids deserve a lot more than what the world has given them and this special place is one thing we can do to help. From November 16th - December 31th, I am running a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for Experience Camps.
Gifts of all sizes have a huge impact and I hope you will join me in making sure that all children expeirncieng grief have a place to feel safe!
