Carla and I will be participating in the Disney 5K on January 9, 2020. In addition to looking forward to spending time with our favorite Mickey and Minnie Mouse, we will be supporting the Scott Carter Foundation dedicated to raising money to fund childhood cancer research. Scott Carter was a 13 year boy who died in 1993 after a courageous three-year battle with bone cancer. Since initiated, the Scott Carter Foundation has raised more than 2.5 million dollars and funded important research fellowships institutions including M.D. Anderson, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Texas Children’s Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Denver.
No child should face the daunting prospects of facing cancer or any of the many critical illnesses that threaten to take away these bright lights far too soon. Carla and I know all too well the courage these children demonstrate as the fight each day. It is up to us to fight along with them. We hope you will support our efforts while we run (or walk 😊) to help in the efforts to find effective treatments and cures for childhood cancers.
