In December 2016 Captain David 'Dutch' Koeher was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme - a byproduct of his years serving the city of South Bend as a firefighter. In 2019, Captain Koehler died in the line of duty. He sacrificed his life for a job he loved. Ask anyone on the South Bend Fire Department and they will tell you he was an inspiration, a mentor, and a friend. His memory lives on in his children and his fellow comrades.
We are running to fundraise for the 100 Club of Boston - an organization that is dedicated to providing life-long support to the families of police and fire fighters that have died in the line of duty. https://100clubmass.org/about/club-mission/
We are running in the memory of Captain Koehler and the many firefighters and police officers that have gone before him.
