Row4Cancer is a virtual rowing challenge that will take place from January 1-31, 2019. Rowers of all ages and from all over the country will support cancer research by logging distance rowed on the erg in January, with the goal of raising $40,000 for cancer research at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, one of the leading cancer research and treatment facilities in the country.
Rowers all know what we do in January. Yeah, It gets dark early and, for many of us, it’s cold outside. Maintaining focus and purpose during long weeks and months of indoor winter training can challenge, even for a committed rower. This year, a group of our rowers are tackling winter training with an added purpose – they have joined the Row4Cancer Challenge to raise money for cancer research. The goal is to log 40,000 kilometers across all Row4Cancer participants. Why 40,000 kilometers? That’s roughly the distance around the world, so it equates to a distance and fund raising goal of one dollar per kilometer around the world. That seemed like a fitting goal to us as cancer touches people everywhere around the world.
Almost everybody we know has been impacted in some way by cancer - whether directly in your family, a friend or rowing teammate or someone at school or work. Row4Cancer is a great, simple way to support cancer research, whether as a rower or as a donor.
