It is once again time for our annual Scouting for Food drive. As in previous years, we will be helping the Boy Scouts via the Virtual Food Drive to benefit local Food Banks. Please join us in the Scouting for Food Campaign. Our three-week campaign starts April 2 and ends April 20, 2018. The 2017 campaign resulted in 5 million units of canned foods and household products collected for the needy. Cohen & Grigsby's 2017 donations totaled $1,930.00 for food and other necessities. These results reflect the teamwork of school students, company employees, community organizations, labor unions, the Boy Scouts, and hundreds of Scouting for Food volunteers in southwestern Pennsylvania. Begun in 1987 in response to an urgent request from the food bank, more than 250,000 people enjoy participating in the Boy Scouts’ community-wide Good Turn project. Since the first drive over 120 million units of food and household products have been collected by employees of accounting firms, universities and colleges, government agencies, companies, organizations, students, and Boy Scouts. In spite of these impressive numbers of much appreciated help, the need to reduce the issue of hunger in our communities will be even more crucial during 2018. Once again, we will not be collecting non-perishable items in the office. Through this virtual food drive, money is donated based on the wholesale price that the Food Bank pays, rather than paying supermarket prices. The Food Bank’s buying power allows us to stretch our dollar and purchase nearly five times more food! You can still donate with a personal check made payable to "Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank" and send it to me. If you have any questions about this campaign, please call me at Ext. 4644. I look forward to working with all of you in anticipation of another successful campaign. Don’t forget to participate. Together we CAN make a difference!
