CANCER - This terrible disease effects us all in one way or another. Whether you, a loved one, or someone you know of was diagnosed, we all know it's worth fighting to find a cure.
SLAYER - Godfather of thrash metal bands. I’ve been a fan since I was 12 in 1986. I took my dad to see them about four years ago and it blew my mind to hear him say how much he enjoyed the show and actually “found it soothing“. This August will be our 4th slayer show together. SLAYER and the bond that my dad and I now have was a perfect fit for the name of this nonprofit fundraiser.
STORY - My dad was diagnosed with throat cancer last year. He got treatment & after some healing it was clear from his throat. Soon after though a scan revealed that it had spread to his lungs as stage 4 cancer. The battle continues but the war is not over. Our first trip to the cancer treatment center with my dad really hit hard. So many people in different stages of treatment or recovery was overwhelming. I felt deeply that I wanted to do something to help in the fight against cancer.
It seems that we probably all know someone who has or had it. My dads mother, father, & brother passed away from cancer. A family friend of ours was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Our sons amazing nanny passed away from cancer a few years ago. On and on, young and old this disease has many different types that effect us all.
There are exciting advances & research happening to help fight for cures against cancer but we all know that comes with a price tag. The American Cancer Society is a voluntary cancer research and assistance organization that has lead the fight for over 100yrs. This is the orginaztion I choose to help support the fight against cancer. I set the goal high & I'm hitting the ground running. 100% of donations go directly to The American Cancer Society. Please donate whatever amount you can if you can, & share this fundraiser in an effort to reach our goal.
