Every summer, YMCA Camp Lincoln welcomes hundreds of excited campers to our beautiful camp alongside the Kingston Lake waterfront. The views are always so magnificent and picturesque, and our aquatics-based programs have expanded in the many years since our founding in 1926.
Nevertheless, we’re seeking to purchase a pontoon boat to use for the 2020 summer season, and with your help we’ll meet our goal.
First and foremost, the addition of a motored pontoon boat will give us the ability to perform water rescues and other water-based safety precautions further out past our waterfront.
EXPANDING PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES
Furthermore, a pontoon boat would allow us to expand our programming out onto the lake itself. This would include, for example, an adventure fishing program, where campers could take casting rods out to the center of the lake and get a more in-depth look on fishing that’s not just dockside. Programs like these would give our campers something new, fun, and exciting to look forward to in summers to come.
THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS
But it doesn’t stop there. There are lots of our programs and camper groups that don’t get to go out on the lake all that often. Our homeschool program, for instance, like to explore the lake but don’t often get the chance to do so. Our Eagles campers never get to even go past the waterfront. Other Y-based events, including our Tri for the Y, need a pontoon boat in case of rescues.
And who knows – maybe a sunset boat tour on an Alumni Weekend might be pretty awesome, too!
