Hi Family & Friends,
Firstly, thank you to every person who has graciously donated to me for the past few years. Being a counselor and coordinator for Camp Kesem throughout my time at UT has been such a life-changing and magical experience that I've been blessed to have. This year I'm lucky enough to serve as one of the two directors of Camp Kesem - UT Austin. I'm beyond excited to use my voice more and be apart of the process of making our chapter grow so that we can serve more kids and support more student leaders in the coming years. Camp Kesem provides all involved with a family that's full of unconditional love and support, which is an incredible gift. It's the contributions that you all make that helps make this magic happen, and we appreciate everything you all give, for without it camp wouldn't be so magical year after year.
Just as a refresher, Camp Kesem (CK) is an organization that supports children affected by a parent's cancer. One of the ways CK provides support is through a week-long, overnight summer camp where these kids can escape the real world and just be kids. We strive to provide them with a loving community surrounded by other campers who understand their unique situation. "Kesem," means "magic" in Hebrew and is the best way to explain our mission here at Kesem: to bring a magical experience and change kids' lives. When a parent is diagnosed with cancer, the whole family is affected. There are currently no other camps and few services available to these children in the nation, so we serve this unique population wholeheartedly. We also provide our kiddos with year-round support so that we can maintain our connections outside of just the summer, and ensure we are there for them whenever they need us.
This year, my personal goal is to raise $4,000 to contribute towards our chapter's collective goal of $215,000. Our goal is to serve 265 kids this year and reach out to families we haven't before so that they too can experience the magic of Kesem. This cause means the world to me and more, so I would really appreciate every little bit that you all are willing to donate. If you are unable to aid financially, please share my page with others so we can spread the word about this amazing organization, Camp Kesem!
