Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Camp Kesem! I am so excited to represent this amazing organization as I run the Half Marathon at the Ascension Seton Austin Marathon. Camp Kesem is a student-run organization that supports children impacted by a parent’s cancer every summer. The most impactful way we do this is by providing a week-long summer camp for this underserved population of kids - all free of charge to the families we serve! There are about 5 million children in the United States who have been affected by a parent’s cancer, and I had the opportunity to meet one of them when I volunteered at camp last summer.
I had the absolute honor of being a camp counselor this past summer for silver unit, or 14-16 year olds. Contrary to the typical teen stereotypes that you think kids this age might be, these kids were the most loving, kind, and couragous people I have ever met. From the moment they arrived at camp, you could immediately see their excitement to be with the people who most love, support and understand one another. And that's exactly what they did - they had an amazing week of Kesem magic, filled with messy games, friendship braclets, s'mores, and simply time to be with their best friends, brought together by their parent's cancer.
Help me send campers like Pineapple, Cap, Hawkeye, Motorcycle, Beef Jerky, Marvel, and all of silver unit to camp!
Thank you so much!
