Our Darling Callie was born 5.5 years ago perfectly made with an upper limb difference to her left hand called Symbradactly. She has always been a blesing to our family, taking life in her stride and meeting childhood milestones head on with resilience.
Early on in her life my husband and I were researching communities to connect with and ways for us to show her that she is not alone in this world, she may be unique... but certainly not alone. We came across this beautiful lady Amy, who made dolls for children with physical differences, and straight away I knew how important it was going to be for Callie to have a precious doll for her to see herself represented in her world, as so many toys, media and societal norms did not include people with differences. I never wanted Callie to feel like she didnt fit in.
Amy is not a business, she is a ministry, trying and succeeding to bring joy and acceptance for children and adults alike to know that they are loved and valued just as they are. Our family is forever grateful for that love and support she put into making both Callie's and Phoebe's (Her twin sisters) dolls over 4 years ago.
Lil Callie and Lil Phoebe (the girls dolls) have had a major impact on our daughter's lives. They are their companions which have seen many a journey, from nap times, shopping, family holidays, hospital trips and play therapy. These dolls are like my 3rd and 4 th children :-) I have seen these girls grow and develop in many ways all because of the love and generoristy from Amy and her Doll like me ministry.
Now, back to why we are here... Callie has watched Amy's doll journey and hs been inspired by watching a boy gift a doll to a special little girl and Callie turned to me and said "Mummy, I want to share my kind and serving heart with others and donate a doll too". So I brainstormed with Callie how she could do so. Over the last few months, Callie has made and baked over 150 chocolate chip cookies and over 500 chocolate brownies to "Raise money to buy a doll for someone else" as she says. So far Callie has raise over $1000, from family, friends, church family, school teachers, Corrective Services staff and NSW Police officers. We also have Frozen Journals and beauty products on offer for purchase to go towards this great Charity.
Please donate to this worthy cause or contact me to order some cookies, brownies, journals or beauty products. You would literally be contributing to "changing the world one doll at a time", allowing people to see themselves represented in a special and meanngful way, as well as telling them that the world loves them just they way they are.
