This year, I was fortunate enough to be selected as a member of the Framingham Marathon Team to run the 2020 Boston Marathon. I am lucky to be running for Team Framingham, and I am lucky to work at Framingham High School. I am thrilled to give back to our community by raising money for a cause that benefits my students.
I have chosen to raise money for Call2Talk, which is a mental health, emotional support, and suicide prevention program in Framingham. It is a direct service program operated by the United Way of Tri-County, and the program services my students. Call2Talk offers suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention services to anyone in need.
If you choose to donate to this cause, you are supporting:
1. Outreach and education in Framingham schools about risk factors, warning signs, and how to help someone in crisis.
2. Promotion of texting services to teens and young adults.
This program has serious impact: In 2018, Call2Talk received 51,812 calls, with a steady annual increase in calls from children under 15 years old.
I am honored to be benefitting an organization that is making strides toward providing mental health resources for my community.
So, please help me make strides along the marathon route! I have many months of training until the big day (April 20th, 2020), so please consider supporting this cause (and my running) with a donation!
