Give the Gift That Will Last a Lifetime!
Caldwell JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians) is a program of the Caldwell Arts Council that offers traditional music classes for kids 8 to 18 years of age. Lessons are held after school, and the students learn old-time music in the Appalachian style of singing and playing by ear. Instrument choices are guitar, fiddle, mandolin and banjo and if students do not own instruments, they can rent them from the Caldwell Arts Council for a nominal annual fee.
The tuition for the program is on a sliding scale and discounts based on family income are available. But there are families who still struggle to pay for the music lessons, even with the discounts. It is particularly difficult when paying for basic needs like food and housing is already a challenge for them. Children in these families need full JAM scholarships, but currently the Arts Council has very limited funds to make this happen.
Because we strongly believe no child should be denied access to experiencing the joy and self-confidence that comes from learning to play an instrument and making their own music, we at the Caldwell Arts Council, have created this GoFundMe page.
Will you help support our kids and JAM tuition needs? Your one-time donation to help provide music lessons could make all the difference in a child’s life and is a gift that will last a lifetime. Every little bit helps, and we thank you so much!
