Nationwide, nearly 75 percent of students receive some sort of financial aid to go to college. Despite the availability of Pell Grants and other financial aid resources, some qualified lower income students fail to apply for financial aid and never go to college. In order to apply for all financial aid, students and their parents must complete the Free Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA). Many Fairfax County students and their parents cannot complete this complicated application without help. That is where College Access Fairfax steps in.
Through a combination of seminars and workshops, clinics and one-on-one help sessions with specially trained Financial Aid Champions, College Access Fairfax gives every qualified Fairfax County Senior an opportunity to get help completing the FAFSA. In classrooms, after school and during evening and weekend workshops, our staff and volunteers help seniors and their parents complete the FAFSA. As a result, many students who thought they could never afford to go to college receive Pell Grants and other need-based aid and realize their career goals.
