We're going to run this fundraiser until May 5th because it's "Giving Tuesday Now". You may be familiar with Giving Tuesday which normally occurs in November. But with this worldwide pandemic and so many people in need including employees of small non-profits, organizers of Giving Tuesday made the choice to have this additional day. The more you give, the more you're continuing to support these kids and our community.
Our volunteer Patrollers work so hard at every event to shield children, young people and their families from protesters. Now we're all facing different challenges on a scale that can feel overwhelming. Help us help these kids and their families in this difficult time of need.
We've shifted our focus for the time being with our sister program called, "Parasol Patrol Supports Kids," under the 501c3 fiscal sponsor, RLRI. We're able to support our community in so many new ways. Without libraries or book stores to for Drag Queen Story Time, we've launched our YouTube channel featuring, among other things, "Parasol Patrol Story Time." We welcome Queens, Kings and a variety of fabulous folx to come read, sing, teach kids how to make masks, wash their hands, talk about their feelings, arts, crafts, games and more. We have other new projects offering support during this momentous, life altering time.
We're offering micro-grants of $100 each to families in need. They can use it for whatever they have most need of; help with rent, groceries, medicine, gloves, even toilet paper if they can find it! We also offer age appropriate "Boredom Baskets" with books, games, puzzles and something stress relieving for parents like chocolates and bath bombs. If you know someone you know may benefit, please have them copy/cut and paste http://bit.ly/ParasolPatrolMicroGrant or click https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc17VbYCUnbHAWlsjA5iO3sk9AWg_pMh9oNT2-lLH5amO9jmg/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1 And if you'd like to purchase items from Amazon that will go directly into our Boredom Baskets, please sign in to https://smile.amazon.com/ first and link your Amazon Account to sync with our parent nonprofit, Red Light Resources International. Every purchase you make using Amazon Smile they will make a small donation to Parasol Patrol. Wednesday, April 22 at 7 p.m. MDT on the Facebook Parasol Patrol Page, Eli Bazan shaved his glorious beard! Why would he let this travesty occur? Donations will go directly to the Micro-Grants and Boredom Baskets for families in our community. Check out the video! https://www.facebook.com/566317117106927/videos/3209842182574117/
We would LOVE for any other Patrollers who wish to raise money challenging co-workers, friends and family to donate and shave their own beards off to contact us! We'll share video, photos, whatever you feel comfortable with. We will reward you with Parasol Patrol Schwag like buttons, stickers and if you raise $100, a cool t-shirt from our next Bonfire campaign!
Thank you so much for all you do. Please stay safe, wash your hands, wear your masks, observe social distancing and stay healthy. We hope to see you all in person as soon as it's appropriate.
