Join us for a special night of COPD awareness and education on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the Joseph Martin Conference Center at Harvard Medical School. The evening's highlights include a private screening of the documentary film "Remembering Leonard Nimoy: His Life, Legacy and Battle with COPD" that was produced and directed by his daughter Julie Nimoy and son-in-law David Knight who will introduce the film. The viewing will be followed by a panel discussion on COPD care, innovation and research.
Sponsorship opportunities are available HERE. As a sponsor of this great event, you will directly support research and care programs for patients with COPD at BWH - an institution that has long been renowned for its exceptional pulmonary medicine and thoracic surgical care, research and teaching.
Donations of any amount are also appreciated.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
More than 16 million Americans have COPD, and it is the fourth leading cause of death in the US. BWH is a worldwide leader in COPD research. We have a decades-long history of studies on risk factors for the development and progression of COPD, including leadership of the largest COPD genetics studies to date. We have pioneered computerized methods for reading chest CT scans on COPD patients, including using artificial intelligence. BWH is a site for multiple clinical trials of novel COPD treatments. Active clinical research programs aim to improve the quality of care for COPD patients admitted to the hospital and ensure a safer transition home after discharge. COPD research has directly contributed to BWH offering cutting-edge treatments for COPD, including the largest lung transplant program in New England.
The Nimoy family has requested that all gifts from this community event support COPD research at Brigham and Women's Hospital. BWH and our Harvard Medical School-affiliated physician scientists are dedicated to unearthing discoveries that impact the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of COPD.
