Hi, my name is Buster, I am a male shih tzu poodle. I am 7 years old, born and raised in a family of five since March 2013. The one thing I absolutely love to do as a hobby is to sleep and have dreams which sometimes can fright my parents when they hear me crying from their room but they never hesitate to come and check on me. I always think of myself as a high flyer dog as I want to jump off the couch, thinking I could test how high I can fly or when they come home and hear the door, jump as high to give them a kiss. Besides that, I love my long walks in the morning right after the sun is bright and at night when the sun is setting, I might seem old in age but it feels like I could be only a year old. I am highly active and playful around people and other dogs. I always want the attention but mostly from my family and when I do not receive it, I like running around circles and chewing what I am not allowed to chew. Only thing is, when they are not home I enjoy the time to leave a mess in the kitchen with my food spread out on floor and when they come back to tell me, "Eat your food Buster", I pretend like I ate it but actually hid it somewhere else. You can only imagine how small and cute I can be.
Recently, I have been in a lot of pain internally which has caused me to be more sensitive on my movements and feel weaker than usual. My parents took me to the vet once they noticed I could barely move and could not be touched because of the pain. The first vet that we visited notified them that it was a pain that I was burying for to long until I was not able to resist anymore. It was hard for the doctors to clearly see where the pain was coming from specifically but noticed a pain on my knee joint and enlarged prostate. It was recommended to get a hound abdominal ultrasound with 2-view hindlimb radiographs and get canine castration surgery but it is expected to be very expensive, they told us that we could do the ultrasound to specifically see where the issue is or do the surgery and while undergoing surgery, check the prostate. Meanwhile, It is a very hard decision when the cost is big and money is limited but it would not stop us from trying, they gave me medication to take every 12 hours to try cease the pain. My parents wanted another perspective so they took me to a different animal hospital, they cleared my prostate from being the problem which was a relief, assumed it was just muscular pain on my lower back and I received two different pills and liquid medication to take everyday. It seemed as if I was only getting worse rather than better. Few nights later, the pain was so unbearable my cry woke up everyone late night, they did not know how to handle it so the next morning the vet was called to do the Xray. It showed that two discs of my spine is losing the cartilage because of how long my body is and how short my legs are, it's what is causing my pain. The surgery alone cost $10,000 and you can only imagine how much more rehabilitation, and everything after post-op might be. Economically it is something not available for us to pay off and we are looking for help from family and friends to support us with what they can provide. Help me spread the word of my health issue to family and friends around you. Your collaboration of a small donation is very much appreciated. Thank you for your time and donation, please share my story.
