Ken Buske was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December of 1994 and was given a year and a half. Ken was in the Marine Corps for 25 years and then returned to Jefferson, Wisconsin. Ken was a teacher of 5th and 6th grade at Purdy Elementary for around ten years where he impacted hundreds of students in their education. Upon his passing, the Jefferson Library created a team in his memory to help others who would be on their journey with life-limiting illness. The team name, Buske's Bears, was created for Ken's love of bears. We aren't sure how it started, but he had a multitude of stuffed bears. We hope this story will help others realize why being part of a team is important for all those touched by life-limiting illness.
