IT'S BACK! Dewey Beach Championship 2021: Rumble at the Rudder will take place on Saturday, July 17th at Rusty Rudder in beloved Dewey Beach, Delaware and will benefit the great work of the Green Beret Project! Added bonus is that some of our very own Fortitude Athletes will be competing at this event.
This year's DBC will be one of the most charity- and community-centric fitness competitions around! Not only will there be a really challenging fitness aspect to it but each team will also be asked to raise as many donations as possible through their own fundraising campaigns.
What better way to raise money than with Burpees! For each dollar amount that is donated, these Fortitude Athletes will match them as a team!
The team with the most donations raised will get a huge shoutout and be rewarded with something very cool! Each competing team starts a fundraising campaign with a goal to raise $300+! Of course, the fittest teams in each division will certainly win, but it will be more about Community, Good Vibes & Giving Back! The fundraising goal is to hit $20,000 for Green Beret Project through ticket sales, team fundraising campaigns, t-shirt logo sponsors, workout sponsors and fence banner sponsors!
The Green Beret Project:
The Green Beret Project offers at-risk youth dynamic programming after school and on weekends. During these sessions, adult cadre build rapport and trust, while identifying the future young leaders for the program. There is informal and formal mentorship for youth, to include instruction addressing areas of need. As Green Beret Project youth show they are dependable through service projects, regular attendance, and responsible behavior, then they are asked to become leaders in the organization.
Our adult cadre monitor youth’s grades, behavior and home life to assist and support parents/guardians in keeping kids in school and on-track to graduate. As Green Beret Project youth mature, they begin to be given opportunities to explore their future to include vocational training or college prep. The Green Beret Project’s network of partners offers the potential for part-time jobs and/or apprenticeships.
Operating primarily on volunteers and limited funding, the Green Beret Project has been able to achieve disproportionate effects with minimal resources. As we expand services beyond Delaware into locations such as St. Louis and Kansas City, more than ever we are in need of assistance to continue the fight.
