In the town of Merceron Thomazeau each year the local farmers experience a famine due to excess rain soiling the crops. By building a new irrigation system, we can channel the excess water to a lake and help save these crops. The excess water does not only ruin the crops due to water damage alone, but due to a new bodies of water popping up, animals are drawn to the farmers crops destroying their pastures. Farmers are forced to put up with an unforgiving economy and now wildlife as well. We want to built a permanent structure to help the farming community cultivate continuously and be able to provide for their family. In countries like Haiti, farmers and their families depend on their harvest every season to provide not only food for their familes, but their way of life. With an irrigation system, farmers will no longer have to worry about how they will support their loved ones and get dinner on the table.
