Tears stream down a young persons face as she finds herself overwhelmed with joy - when the campaign SHE has helped lead, has just WON $1.5 million to expand culturally relevant and youth-informed mental health services for young people in SF high schools.
"It feels amazing!" cries a working mom after participating in her first workplace action, letting her employer (a widly popular Chinatown restaurant) know that she and her coworkers willing to stand up for respect, legal rights and fair treatment.
Movement elders connecting with high school students, English-speaking staff getting to know Chinese immigrant tenants, stories of resilience resonating across our diverse and powerful base in our Heart to Heart listening campaign.
These are just a few of the memorable moments in my new role as Executive Director of CPA. I am grateful for the privilege and honor to be part of this incredible organization and to help carry on its legacy even as we move through the extreme precarity, chaos and fears of the current political moment.
In fact, being part of CPA in this political moment gives me great hope. That, and being Kiluxin's mama (still my #1 Role!) makes me both hopeful and that much more committed to organizing our communities for power to build a world where all of us can live with dignity, justice and peace.
I hope you will join me in supporting our work this fall and into 2020, to organize against the CHinese right and for our community's wellness, to end a 4 decades old arcane corporate tax loophole draining our schools and communities of needed resources, and ensuring that our young people, tenants, workers, and families have the voice they deserve!
