I’m helping Chinese Progressive Association fundraise $15,000 in 5 days and my goal is $800 (help me surpass this!) for the Build Resilience fundraiser!
Chinese Progressive Association (CPA) will always and forever be my political home. In 2003/2004, I joined the Common Roots Youth Program, fresh out of high school, where I began my journey as a youth organizer working on community issues such as environmental justice, housing rights, and workers’ rights.
Fast forward to 2006, I became staff at CPA working on health policy through the Tobacco Free Project (full circle this year as I worked on the e-cigarette ordinance with District 10 Supervisor Walton). In 2009, I co-founded the Youth Movement of Justice & Organizing (Youth MOJO-wow it’s been 10 years?!) program, which provided a space for youth to develop their leadership and advocacy skills through community organizing.
CPA has been a big part of my life and I will always be grateful for the seeds that it planted in me to keep fighting for equity and justice for our most vulnerable communities while building multiracial solidarity. While I often think all the young people that I had the opportunity to mentor at CPA, CPA also cultivated me as a young leader and prepared me for my current role in working on local San Francisco policy.
Please join me in continuing to support CPA’s grassroots work for a better future by donating $50, $100, $250 or whatever you can to continue this transformative and important work.
