I was so honored to be invited to fundraise for Chinese Progressive Association's Build Resilience campaign.
I started doing social justice work in 1998 learning how people power can change simple things in my school and immediate community. Growing up on the east side of San Francisco, my introduction and roots of organizing geared towards solidarity with the black and brown communities and amplifying immigrant voices.
After receiving my bachelor’s degree, I returned to San Francisco and started working in Chinatown. It was then I was first exposed to Chinese Progressive Association and had the “WHAT THE HECK” moment of realization that Chinese folks just like me were organizing for a progressive and just society. As I continued to work in Chinatown, I became more inspired by CPA, its values, and its commitment to social justice.
What makes CPA special isn’t just its mission and values – it’s the people. CPA has grown amazing organizers, has empowered countless young people, and has created a space for LEP immigrant Chinese folks to find a community in this country. As we look toward the battles and injustice from our national level, I implore my community to support CPA. We cannot hope to change the future direction of this country without first leading in our local communities with our values. CPA is an amazing organization and you can be a part of building a better future. Please donate today, tomorrow, or any time during this fundraising campaign!
