The Guest House began in July of 2010 and has provided clothing, at no cost, for men, women, children and infants. This love filled endeavor has been accomplished with 100% volunteer hours and donations and is located at the Emmett Nazarene Church. During the winter of 2016 (locally known snowmageddon) the facility housing the Guest House sustained significant damage to the roof. After many inspections, it was determined that further investment in the building was not a wise use of our donations. The Church family then began a series of fund raising efforts including selling a church owned property. In late 2018, we broke ground on a new Guest House facility.
The new facility will be fully accessible, with modern heating and cooling, lighting, electrical, and open space for this much needed local ministry. Our initial cost estimate for construction was $68,000. We originally had planned to reuse an existing foundation after demolition of a building on our site. Unfortunately the foundation was found to be unsalvageable, and we had to reevaluate our initial plan. After a short delay, we cleared a new site and poured a new foundation. This was an additional cost of approximately $28,000 above our estimate.
As of today, we have the shell of the building completed with a combination of volunteer and contracted services. The doors and windows are installed and the building is dried in, and the roof will be installed in the next couple of weeks. We are hoping to raise the additional funds to complete the installation of the the mechanical systems and finishes on the building.
