Help us build a place of Hope!
We began helping children with disabilities and their families in 2018 in one small classroom space in the rural town of Catarina, Nicaragua. Now just 2 years later we are helping more than 40 children who have all types of needs (Autism, Down Syndrome, intellectual disabilities, speech impairment, physical disabilities, etc.).
We need a second location to be able to provide more help to these children and reach even more families! This second location would provide more space for educational interventions, but also a training ground for individuals 16 years and older with disabilities.
We want to teach these young adults to become independent members of society so that they do not have to depend on others. We also want to show our communities in rural Nicaragua how individuals with disabilities can have a positive and productive presence. The first step to reaching this goal is to purchase a property that will provide a place for training and future employment. We plan to teach essential life skills and give opportunities to practice and use those skills such as how to plant and grow vegetables, follow simple recipes, how to exchange money when selling products, and how to interact socially with customers.
We need $35,000 to purchase a property and do minor repairs and cosmetic improvements such as piping into the sewer system and repairs to the roof to begin this new exciting chapter in already founded work in Nicaragua! We already have the support of many families whose children receive services from the Piece of Hope who will aid in the time and labor of these cosmetic improvements (painting, gardening, landscaping, etc.) after the purchase of the property.
We pray that this place will become a light for our community to show the unconditional love of Jesus. Respond to the call and be a part of building this place of hope for so many needy and deserving families.
