On June 28th, I will participate in the Break the Cycle 200 (BTC200) in a one day 200-mile bike ride from West Des Moines to Okoboji with approximately 50 other riders. The event raises awareness and provides resources for programs supporting those who are victims of human trafficking, both locally and globally.
This foundation was founded by local cyclists I ride with. I hope you will join me and my friends as we raise awareness and support the BTC200 by donating to the fight against human trafficking.
Please check out the youtube video for our story and why we do this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dj-yDk4_T2Q&feature=youtu.be
I can't belive it's almost here. We ride friday!!! Mother Nature has not been kind this year. I have spent countless hours in the cold and rain preparing for this event. This past Saturday we spent another 30 miles of an 80 mile ride in a heavy downpour. But thankfully the weather is looking perfect for Friday with sun and a decent tailwind.
With an amazing group of riders and a decent tailwind we arrived in Okoboji around 5:45 PM! Around 10 hrs of riding time (Ave speed 20.4 mph) and a total travel time of 12:45 hours. I hope all that donated before the kick of event Thursday night received an email link from my garmin and were able to track us on our journey. I apologize to the last minute donator's as I have to manually enter the emails into my garmin and it takes a little bit of time to do. Thanks again for all those who donated and/or text me throughout the day with words of encouragement.
